UPDATED TO ADD WINNER: Random.org has worked its magic and it spat out the number 53. Comment #53 is from Diana who wrote:
My husband died in Oct at a young age. My daugher contacted all my siblings & several friends for small stocking gifts for me. when Christmas came I had a huge basket of lovely goodies – what a great memeory
Congratulations, Diana! I will contact you via email and you will have 48 hours to claim your prize before I move on to the next number chosen.
Due to not hearing from the initial winner, I’ve had to move to the second number on the sequence from Random.org. That would be #21, Tara B. who wrote:
Oh, these wash cloths bring back so many memories! one of my favorite Christmas traditions was when we would get a “christmas carepackage” from my grandma…they always incuded handmade dish cloths…just like the ones you make!!
Congratulations, Tara! I’ve sent you an email requesting your mailing information. Please be sure to check your spam folder if you have not received an email from me (jwingard@chezcrazy.com). If I don’t hear from you in 48 hours, I’ll move on to the next in the sequence.
I’ve decided to go ahead and enter something in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day. This is my first giveaway on this blog, and I didn’t find out about it until today, so I’m going to have to post an old, very bad picture of my giveaway item.
Up four grabs are four of these knitted dishcloths in the texture shown, but each will be a different color yarn. Two plain and two variegated.
These washcloths measure approximately 10″ by 10″ and they hold up to a LOT of kitchen work. I’ve knit loads of them for my kitchen because they’re the only washcloths that my kids don’t wear holes into the first week they use them.
I will ship out the washcloths to the winner on December 23rd. I am happy to ship internationally, as well as within the U.S.
To earn entries (maximum of two entries per person):
1. Comment on this post telling me a little about your favorite holiday moment. (Mine was creeping up early one Christmas and sitting around the tree with my many siblings, enjoying whispering to each other and being mesmerized by the lights on the tree in the wave setting. It was magical.)
2. Subscribe to the blog feed or follow. If you’re a new follower (and you likely are because my blog is so new) just let me know in the comments section to get your second entry. I know there isn’t much on here yet, but I have lots of posts scheduled, including some knitting patterns I’ve been plugging away at. You are not required to follow or subscribe in order to get one entry. The second is just a bonus for following or subscribing.
Giveaway will close on December 16 at 5 p.m. PST, (3 p.m. EST) and winners will be announced no later than Sunday, December 18. If you are a no-reply blogger, please don’t get yourself discounted from the giveaway by failing to leave an email address at which you can be contacted. Not sure if you’re a no-reply blogger? Include an email address in your comment, just to be on the safe side. I will do my best to notify the winner via email, and will post an update to this post as well as a post on my main page to announce the winner. If the prize is not claimed within 48 hours of winner posting, I will, sadly, have to draw another name.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! Best of luck to you in all of the giveaways.
Don’t forget to click through to Giveaway Day 2011 to find more giveaways to enter.

We also homeschool and have just learned to crochet. These dish clothes would be lovely. I can’t find where to follow you. Just on FB?
On the right hand column at the top there is a “Subscribe via RSS” button or you can simply click or copy and paste the following into your browser: http://chezcrazy.com/feed. You can also follow me on FB if you want. All my social media links are in the right hand sidebar as well…the little heart symbols.
Congrats on learning to crochet. It was one of my favorite pastimes until I learned to knit. I learned to crochet when I was in third grade, thanks to a darling, patient Sunday School teacher. I’ve been in love with yarn ever since.
I have some nice crochet dishcloth patterns as well. Once you’re ready to try some, let me know and I can share a couple of patterns with you.
I think it would have to be my kids waking up to all the pressies in the morning. They are teens now and still they get excited
My children are the very same way. But here’s the rub…I get so excited about them opening their gifts that I wake them up at the crack of dawn (last year it was like 4:30 in the morning). I’m not sure I’ll ever outgrow being excited about Christmas!
I loved when my daughter got her Barbie Jeep (she’s 20 now) and she told me she would be going to the grocery for me. Thank you for the fabulous giveaway!
Now there’s an idea. I wonder if my kids would volunteer to go to the grocery if I got them a little jeep. I absolutely despise grocery shopping (and shopping in general–pretty sure I’m not a normal girl).
Hi, I love to stay at home with my family and lots of children around for all day and night.
There’s nothing quite like being tucked up at home with the people you love! I wouldn’t miss a moment of being snuggled in our cozy little house with my kiddos…especially during the holidays.
I love them, once made two for myself they are always in the kitchen.
I learned to knit just this year, and I made approximately 20 of the cloths over the summer when it was just too hot to move around much. My youngest daughter loves them and gets so excited every time I make more. She was so upset when I made a stack of them to send to my mom because she had cleared out a spot in one of the kitchen drawers so she could place that particular stack of cloths. She’s a little quirky (possible autism) so she gets really upset when things don’t go where she thinks they ought.
Mine would be having a huge sleepover with all my cousins in my grandparents basement on christmas eve. We were all so excited for christmas day to come
we listened to an old recording of “the three little pigs” on my grandpa’s record player and we watched the movie “Annie” which made us all cry!
Oh, that sounds like so much fun. My grandma had stacks and stacks of records, and every year on the day after Thanksgiving we’d go help put up the tree and listen to Christmas carols on vinyl. There’s nothing quite like it.
Mine was eleven years ago when my then fiance rang the doorbell of my parents house on Christmas evening after flying in for our wedding that was one week later! jinglesells at gmail dot com
How exciting! I introduced my parents to my husband 11 years ago Christmas Eve. We had to meet in a public place so my dad didn’t try to shoot him.
My dad was not happy at all that I was marrying a guy he’d never even met and I barely knew. But, when it’s right, it’s right.
I love knitted dishcloths! They work so well! My dad was a volunteer fireman and every Christmas Eve they’d have santa spottings on the scanner.
I love them too. They are shockingly tough-duty cloths.
Oh, I loved the local firemen. In my grandparents’ neighborhood, the firemen went around the neighborhood on their engine with one of the crew dressed as Santa. They stopped at every house to pick up letters to Santa and hand out goodie bags with candies and oranges.
Favorite Christmas moment was when I was 15. My Mom let me stay up with her on Christmas Eve to wrap gifts and fill the stockings of my younger siblings. I was tired the next day, but much more appreciative of what my Mom did. And it was fantastic to watch the sibs open their gifts!
To me, there’s something even more magical about participating in the ideal of Santa, than being a little kid and believing in Santa as a person.
One of my favorite things to do at Christmas is to go to my in-laws Christmas morning with all of the family for brunch. Thanks for the great giveaway! I love knitted washcloths.
Can I admit that I’m a little envious that you have in-laws you feel comfortable visiting?
My favorite Christmas moment was listening to my kids whispering as they suck out to the front room to check what Santa brought, before waking us up.
I imagine that it was just as magical for you to “be” Santa as it was for them to believe in Santa!
I follow you on Pinnterest.
Woo hoo! I am obsessed with Pinterest. I got an account quite a while back, but never got into it. I fiddled around with it a couple of weeks ago and now I’m pinning almost every day (on days I actually have time to find cool things, that is).
Eating cookies I have made…
Now that would have to be one of MY favorite holiday pastimes. I’m going to weigh 1000 pounds by the time I have my last Christmas, and I’m going to blame 4/5 of the weight on Christmas cookies.
Favorite holiday moment? Probably when we are all sitting together unwrapping gifts..or playing games..or eating. Anything involving my kids is my favorite moment!
Very nice dishcloths, I have been wanting to make some for awhile now..even have some yarn for them. Thanks for the chance to win
By the time we open gifts and eat, I’m so tired that I’ve (more than once) crashed on the floor or couch for a while and I wake up to a little one using me as a walkway for a Barbie or an airplane runway. At least you still have enough energy afterward to play games!
I am a new follower.
Yay! Thank you for following.
I’ll try to make/keep things interesting for you.
I always loved having company over and playing with their kids. I rarely had friends over since we lived in the country and no one wanted to drive out there! So having kids to play with, in my house, was a special treat!
I’m a country girl too! But my family was so large (I’m the oldest of 13 kids) that there was never any shortage of playmates. I love having company too, but sadly, military moves have placed us far away from friends and family, so I don’t get company often.
Love knitted dishcloths. My favorite moment is all of us, young and old, playing board games together.
I love board games. My siblings and I are board game crazy and my kids are now, too. My favorite is Yahtzee, but we’ve also had some really intense trivial pursuit battles, chess matches and WICKED games of Dutch Blitz (a card game very popular in the Western PA Amish/Mennonite area we grew up in).
My husband and I got engaged right before Christmas one year and that whole Christmas season was just magical. Thanks so much for the chance to win!
Shockingly, I was never really the marriage type, but I always wanted a Christmas wedding if I ever changed my mind. I ended up marrying at the JP, but if I had a do-over, I’d have a Christmas wedding, for sure!
My favorite holiday moment is when my kids first come upstairs and see the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Their little faces light up and it’s just so fun.
My youngest has been driving us nuts for our Christmas tree. We always get a real one so we wait until about two weeks before Christmas. We’re getting ours this weekend and she’s soooooooooo excited she can’t stop signing about the tree.
Hmmm… favorite holiday moment – The look on our daughter’s face when she saw a scooter she really, really wanted under the tree on Christmas morning.
We gave ours new scooters for Christmas last year. The screams were nearly deafening. My oldest girl actually cried because she was so surprised and happy.
Oh, these wash cloths bring back so many memories! one of my favorite Christmas traditions was when we would get a “christmas carepackage” from my grandma…they always incuded handmade dish cloths…just like the ones you make!!

Oh! I love old fashioned (and I use that term lovingly because I ADORE old-fashioned simplicity) grandmas who make things so special by putting something handmade into a package. Those are the things that are treasured.
I am now a follower of your blog!
Thanks! I’m so happy to have you. I’ll do my best to keep things interesting.
My favorite holiday moment was when Santa came to visit all the kids in the hospital on Christmas while I was working!
Oh, now that would be spectacular! A Patch Adams sort of Christmas.
One of my favorite holiday moments was in the 60′s when my then 2 yr old brother ran through the house at 2am Christmas morning shouting that Santa had come, because we put out all the presents after he went to sleep. So we had to all get up and do Christmas right then and there to appease him!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Little ones (siblings, children, or any kids for that matter) make Christmas absolutely amazing, don’t they? I find that it’s impossible not to have a little bit of Christmas spirit when you have children around. They’re magical.
I used to sit in the hall with my brother and giggle and goof around until my parents let us come out and open present. It was great bonding for us. Thanks!
Those are the memories that both of you will cherish forever, I’m sure. I know all of my siblings made my Christmases amazing just by being there with me.
My favorite memory is my first daughter’s reaction to seeing the tree on her first Christmas–she was so delighted!
It’s amazing, isn’t it. Until they pull the tree over on themselves (maybe that didn’t happen in your house, but it’s definitely happened in ours).
My dad reading the Night Before Christmas every year before we went off to bed.
My dad always read it to us and now my husband reads it every year to our children. I had a horrible time understanding the “why” when my husband told me that his family had never done anything like that…like he missed out on Christmas altogether just because they didn’t do that in his house.
Man, I really have to learn to knit or crochet. These dish cloths look awesome! My family has a Christmas tradition of giving an ornament and a poem each year. The recipient then gives the ornament and poem the following year. My favorite holiday memory is receiving an ornament from my grandfather. akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com
This pattern is a little tough for an absolute beginner, but once you learn casting on, knitting really isn’t difficult. Crochet, even less difficult.
Oh, what a sweet way to pass on the Christmas cheer! Is there one ornament that has been passed around over the years or does each person pass on a different ornament?
My favourite Christmas memory is opening our Christmas stockings on Christmas morning in Mum and Dad’s bed. Now I realise they were acting all surprised at what Father Christmas had given us, but it sure made it fun!
You know…they may not have been acting surprised. They may have simply been so tired from wrapping gifts all night that they honestly couldn’t remember what they got you.
Or maybe that’s just MY reason for being surprised when my kids open their gifts.
My favorite holiday moment(s) are our annual Christmas “concerts” that my sister, aunt, and I have done since I was almost too young to remember. We perform a few classic holiday songs, and then sing our patented “12 Days” spinoff about our uncle. There are many photos of this.
Those washcloths are fabulous!
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

That sounds like fun! I love holidays where you can cut loose and have a bit of fun.
A few years back my guy and I went on a bit of a whim to Walt Disney World on Christmas Eve. (We live about an hour away.) That year it was really dead in the park so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was so nice to have a day just us before the hustle of running to two families on Christmas Day.
I’m no fan of amusement parks, but that does sound like fun. I hate the parks when we have to fight throngs of people. It would be rather magical to have a place like Disney World to yourselves.
My father in law loves these kitchen cloths and they are hard to find. I lost my mother and my sister in the past three years and have a good memory of our last Christmas all together.
I started making them myself because I couldn’t find anywhere local to buy them (or if I did they were made with an acrylic yarn, which, in my opinion, simply isn’t good for washing dishes).
I’m so sorry to hear of your losses. It must be tough to be missing them so…especially during the holidays. Christmas is such a magical time of year though, that I’m sure the wonderful memories you have are wrapping you just as tight as a hug from one of your loved ones could.
It may be the play kitchen I got when young. All of the siblings were wowed and I felt so special.
Play kitchens are second only in awesomeness to REAL kitchens. I spend half my life in my kitchen though, so I may be a little partial to kitchens…they’re the soul of the home, I think.
My favourite moment is when all the lights are out in the dark…and the the eldest and the youngest come together with a candle in their hand and bring us light….
only an old family tradition….
Thank you for the chance to win such a wonderful prize.
Kind regards from Germany.

What a beautiful tradition! I get all weepy when I hear about amazing traditions like this. I’m a bit of a sap. I’d love to do this with my children, but my son has set our house on fire once already, so I’m not sure it’s a good idea for us.
Mine is going to the Nutcracker with my daughter, she loves it…great memories.
That would be fantastic. I’m sure it is an experience she will never forget. I think I’m going to take my family next year. The kids should all be old enough to be still throughout the performance by then. Hopefully.
My favorite moment was waking up christmas morning to the smells in the kitchen, christmas music playing, sausage cheese balls for breakfast and of course presents to open.
Oh, the kitchen is a heavenly place. Come holidays, I swear I can almost hear bands of angels singing when I walk into a bustling kitchen.
Sausage cheese balls? Never heard of them, but now my tummy is growling. Do you have a recipe you can share?
Telling my son the christmas story of Jesus birth.
My dad read it to us every Christmas morning. I’ll admit that we knew it so well from church (my dad was a pastor) that it was the very last thing we wanted to hear when all we could think about was the presents we were waiting (im)patiently to open.
Hello, One of my favorite holiday memories from childhood is carolling with a group of friends. That isn’t done too much any longer that I know about and it was such fun. Thanks for the chance to win your dishcloths. Linda
I love Christmas caroling, and hardly anyone does things like that anymore. This makes me sad, but it could just be because I’m so old-fashioned that I don’t fit in with most of the rest of the world very well.
One of my favorite Christmas memories is the year I received a kitten who I named Sugar.
Yay for kittens! I got a kitten for my birthday this year. I’ve always wanted to give my kids a special pet for a gift. We’ve already got three furry pets though, so I’m thinking I might get them some fish and an aquarium for Christmas this year.
I will never forget the anticipation of waiting to watch ET on Christmas day. We only had 4 TV channels in the UK when I was a kid and you waited years for films in the cinema to make it to video. So waiting to see the BIG Christmas Day movie was as exciting as opening your presents. We would all be squashed into my Grandparents front room, cracking nuts & eating chocolates, If you managed to get a good seat, then there was no way you could get up & use the bathroom lol. Great memories!
HAHA! That sounds like my excitement to watch the James Bond marathons that played around the holidays. My grandparents had cable and several tvs so my brother and I would stay up for a full day straight watching James Bond as long as we could get the channel switched quickly when one of our parents came to check on us. Seems most parents don’t happen to approve of James Bond movies for kids under ten.
My birthday is Saturday, so this would be such a great birthday present!
Well, I don’t know if this is my favorite holiday moment, but it sure is my favorite and funniest memory. When my sister and I were little, we had the bad habit of trying to get into the presents before Christmas morning. We would scratch off little pieces of wrapping paper, which would ruin surprises. My parents were distraught and called my grandpa for help. He hand-built a white fence, which he then brought over to the house and put around the Christmas tree so we couldn’t get into the presents. Those are some funny pictures we have of my sister and I sitting in front of the “christmas tree fence” wanting to get to our presents.
Well, happy birthday to you, Sarah!
Oh my goodness! I’ve never heard of parents going to such lengths to protect the presents. A fence? How funny!!! See, you should have just been an expert present un-wrapper and re-wrapper. I couldn’t stand surprises even as a kid, so I’d unwrap all the presents and re-wrap them.

i love seeing people’s face when they open a gift i have given them. this year is going to be great because my daughter is finally old enough to enjoy christmas.
It’s so special when they actually understand what’s going on. I know the “baby’s first Christmas” stuff is kind of cute, but it’s just no FUN unless they understand what’s going on. I hope it’s a fantastic Christmas for you and for your little one!

Woot! Thanks for following. I hope something around here interests you.
My favorite moment is always coming downstairs and seeing all the presents under the tree Christmas morning. Now I get to see my son excitement including my own for him.
Thanks for the chance to win.
I still haven’t outgrown my excitement at Christmas. It’s just so much fun! I hope your son and you both have an amazing Christmas.
I crochet, don’t know to knit so would love this, thanks for chance to win it.We love to decorate tree, watching movies on tv and enjoying fireworks on New Year’s eve.
I have some great crochet dishcloth patterns, so I’ll have to share some after the new year.
There’s nothing quite so “family” as decorating the tree. I can’t wait for this weekend when we get our tree. Tree decorating night is my absolute favorite night of the entire year. I’m such a kid!
My favorite holiday moments are those happening now. My children are just now old enough to really enjoy and get into the spirit of things. Their excitement is contagious and each day is so much fun.
It’s so fantastic when the littles are old enough to get into the holiday spirit in full force. The Christmas spirit is totally infectious when you have little ones to share it with! I hope your holiday is amazing.
My favorite holiday moments are going on Christmas light walks with my family, when everyone comes back home and we go walk around the neighborhood to go look at lights.
I love love love seeing all the lights. It’s so much fun. My youngest got up at 2 this morning and wanted to sit out on the front porch looking at all the lights around the neighborhood. Despite the temperature and the hour, I just didn’t have the heart to say no.
This year my grandson is two, and we got the fisher price nativity set. It was so fun watching my daughter tell him the story withe the little people (and little camels and sheep) and then watching him re-do it over and over agian! He has that little angel flying all over the place!
How precious! I love having little ones around for Christmas. Enjoy the holiday with your grandbaby.
I was so excited about sharing Christmas memories (stockings especially) with my 1.5 year old last year, but he got overwhelmed and we actually had to stretch the gift giving into January. I’m excited for this year since he’s older. We’ve been talking about the true meaning of Christmas and he seems to understand a little now.
Thanks for the giveaway:)
We’ve always tried to keep it pretty simple around here, but I can certainly understand how it could be overwhelming for a little tyke. I’m fairly certain that even we adults are easily overwhelmed by the hustle, bustle, and gifting. I hope this year works out better for your family, although, personally, I don’t see a thing wrong with making the Christmas season last well into January.
Thanks for stopping by.
